Hudson Valley Hazardous Outlook: Halloween Storm
It's what's coming after Halloween that'll make you shiver. Here's the latest hour-by-hour forecast.
The Hudson Valley will catch the edge of a drenching storm headed east on Halloween. Then we'll be hit with a cold front that will swoop in and sweep the clouds away.
The National Weather Service says intermittent drizzle and light showers will move into the New York metro area late Wednesday afternoon setting up another rainy evening. Rain will continue through the day Thursday increasing in coverage and intensity into the evening, along with gusty winds.
For Thursday, the NWS has posted a hazardous weather outlook for the mid-Hudson Valley:

The heaviest rainfall will occur Thursday evening into Thursday night. Storm total rainfall amounts will be 1 to 3 inches, with the heaviest totals across the Adirondacks and into southern Vermont. The rainfall will result in rises on area waterways, with a few rivers possibly just reaching minor flood stage. The greatest threat for river flooding will be for areas north of Interstate 90. Some minor flooding of urban and poor drainage areas is also possible. There is a marginal to slight risk for flash flooding, especially within urban areas. A Flood Watch may be needed.
In addition, winds will become gusty for late Thursday night and into the day on Friday behind the departing storm system. Winds may gust over 35 mph, which may result in some downed tree limbs.
Then comes the cold.
It's going to be quite a contrast. Temperatures Thursday could hit 70 degrees in the day time and stay up in the 50s at night. Then they won't climb out of the 50s on Friday, and nighttime temps will drop deep into the 30s, even into the 20s in Putnam County.
