Heat, Air Quality Advisories For The Hudson Valley
Hot temps, air pollution and high humidity can cause heat-related illnesses.
Heat advisories for the region stretch from 11 a.m. Sunday all the way to 8 p.m. Monday, as air quality deteriorates in the lower and mid-Hudson Valley.
Both days will feature hot and humid conditions as high temperatures end up about 10 degrees above average both days, the National Weather Service said.
Heat index values will hover around 100 degrees for southeast New York, portions of northeast New Jersey and southern Connecticut. Hot temps, air pollution and high humidity can cause heat-related illnesses.

People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
