Memorial Day Parades Planned In Brewster, Across Putnam

VFW and American Legion chapters have several events scheduled.

BREWSTER, NY - The local VFW Post 672 is holding is annual Memorial Day parade in downtown Brewster.

The parade, which will take place from the Brewster Fire House to Electrozone Field, is scheduled to start at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 29. At ceremony will be held at the field once the parade stops. It will be followed by a lunch at the VFW's building, which is located at Peaceable Hill Road.

The Brewster parade is one of several events that are planned in Putnam County for Memorial Day weekend. Combined parades with ceremonies are also scheduled in Mahopac, Putnam Lake and Cold Spring. Standalone ceremonies are scheduled to take place in Carmel, Putnam Valley and Patterson.

Meanwhile, a watchfire is planned to run from May 26-28, courtesy of the Putnam County Joint Veterans Council. The council will also hold a ceremony on May 30 at Veterans Memorial Park.
