The health network created when Healthquest and Western Connecticut Health Network joined in the spring now has a new name and online presence. But with a nod toward the communities they serve with 2,600 doctors in an area that encompasses about 1.5 million residents, their seven hospitals will keep their own names.

“Coming together to become one health system gives us a tremendous opportunity to redefine how we provide care by improving on traditional healthcare experiences and elevating our ability to connect our communities with an expanded care network,” said Dr. John Murphy, CEO of Nuvance Health.

The two were among the biggest employers in the Hudson Valley and western Connecticut.

Now they've revealed a new name, new website, nuvancehealth.org, and social media pages. To mark the creation of Nuvance Health, the nonprofit system unveiled its new brand Monday.

The brand conveys Nuvance Health’s motivation to challenge assumptions and expectations in healthcare and to deliver more convenient, accessible and affordable care throughout the region, officials said.

The network has seven hospitals — Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York.

Keeping the names of the hospitals was important recognition of their unique histories and devotion and connectivity to their respective communities, officials said.

The network also has multiple outpatient, primary and specialty care physician practice locations, including The Heart Center, a leading provider of cardiology care, and two urgent care offices. Non-acute care is offered through various affiliates, including the Thompson House for rehabilitation and skilled nursing services, and the Home Care organizations.

“With our Nuvance Health brand firmly in place, we have an opportunity to create an incredible energy and culture for our new health system, for our employees and for our community,” said Robert Friedberg, president of Nuvance Health. “Our patients have told us they value a healthcare partner who stands for something beyond what is expected.”
