Kathleen Ann Civetta, of Brewster, NY, transitioned peacefully on the arm of her guardian angel to the home of Our Lord on December 8, 2020 after a long and valiant fight with cancer. She was 76 years old. Kathleen wanted to know that she’d done everything she could do and was assured she had.

Born on July 1, 1944 in Bronx, NY, daughter of the late William and Hannah (Cremin) Sullivan. Kathy graduated from Thorpe High School, Manhattan NY.

On June 10, 1967 she married John Civetta Jr. They moved to Brewster, where they raised their three children and became active parishioners of St. Lawrence O’Toole Church.

Kathy was known for loving life, enjoying everything she did but most of all sharing with her family and friends … with a short or long story and always with a smile on her face…but always making them see the bright side of whatever ailed them. She would always be thinking of what she could do to help someone or, just by being Kathy, spread a happy word or funny story before “hanging up”.

She always made everyone feel welcome and special in her home and loved sharing her Sunday dinners with anyone who stopped by. Her house was always open as was her heart.

Kathy was a devoted employee – although one day a week – of St. Lawrence Church since 1984. Only she knew how much her devotion and love of God helped her through to the end.

Kathleen is survived by her loving husband John, her three beloved children: Regina Civetta of Brewster, NY, Danielle (David) Thompson of Brewster NY, and her son John (Amy) Civetta of South Salem, NY; her grandchildren: John Owen, Christopher, William, and Caroline Civetta all of South Salem, NY; Kathleen and Matthew Thompson and Spencer & Sabrina Schwartz, all of Brewster, NY and Samantha Marcondes of White Plains, NY; her sisters: Mary Mulkeen of Waldwick, NJ, & JoAnn Sullivan of Ridgefield, CT; her brother Thomas Sullivan of Garnerville, NY.

Kathy was predeceased by her brothers, William Sullivan of Saugerties, NY and Daniel Sullivan of Brewster, NY.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church on Saturday December 12, 2020 at 10am. Interment will immediately follow at St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to Brewster Cares (supporting the area shelter and food pantry), 31 Prospect Street, Brewster, NY 10509.

Condolences for the family may be left at the funeral home’s website, Beecherfuneralhome.com
