Obituary: Robert W. Vrabel Of Brewster

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church.

Robert W. Vrabel, of Brewster, NY, died peacefully at Candlewood Valley Health Care Center, New Milford, CT on Sunday September 20, 2020. He was 69 years old.

Born on August 23, 1951 in Yonkers, NY, son of the late Harry W. and Ruth (Lawless) Vrabel of Brewster, NY. Mr. Vrabel graduated from North Salem High School and received his bachelor’s in business administration from Pace University.

On May 15, 1976 Bob married the love of his life Andrea Canzoneri at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster.

Robert was a crane operator with IUOE Union in Briarcliff Manor for over 30 years before retiring in 2013. However, retirement did not last long, and he continued working on several large projects. He loved the outdoors, whether sitting on the porch of the family cabin outside of Cooperstown, NY or on the shores of Cape Cod, surrounded by his family. He enjoyed music, especially Rock and Roll, and sports cars. His greatest passion in his life was his family, most importantly his 4 grandchildren.

Besides his wife Andrea of 44 years and his mother Ruth, Robert is survived by his 2 sons; Robert W. Jr and his wife Jessica of Brewster, NY and Ryan C. and his wife Eva of New Fairfield, CT, his grandchildren; Madison B., Robert P., Ryan C. Jr. and Erik C. and his siblings; Carol Lynn Philhower of Millbrook, NY and Laura Ann Vrabel DePaoli of Millbrook, NY. His father Harry predeceased him in 2018.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday September 24, 2020 at 12pm at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church. Friends may call on Thursday morning just prior to the funeral mass at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY from 9:30am-11:30am. A private cremation will follow the funeral mass.
