Obituary: Thomas F. O’Loughlin Of New Rochelle

At American Legion Post No. 8, where he served on the Color Guard, he was known as the "Irish Wolfhound."

Thomas F. O’Loughlin, 77, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 at Calvary Hospital in Bronx, NY.

Tom was the youngest of seven children of Mary (Byrnes) and Thomas O’Loughlin who emigrated from Fanore, County Clare, Ireland. He was a lifelong resident of New Rochelle and a graduate of New Rochelle High School. Tom was a proud veteran of the US Army and a member of the American Legion Post No. 8 where he served on the Color Guard, where he was known as the “Irish Wolfhound."

He is survived by his loving sister Patricia Hall of St. Augustine, Fla. and his sister-in-law Catherine (Parker) O’Loughlin of Southbury, CT, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother John, and sisters Mary (Ryan), Nancy (McCrann), Margaret, and Elizabeth, as well as his long-time companion, Roberta Seftner.

A memorial will be held at a later date with interment at St. John Cemetery in Darien, CT.
