Mahopac's Jason Needle, 33, didn't let his myeloid leukemia deter him from running in last weekend's 5K race at Franklin D. Roosevelt State Park, NY Sen. Greg Ball (R, C, I — Patterson) shared in a Patch blog post.
According to Ball, Needle organized the 5K race to thank the Jimmy McDonough Foundation for aiding him, and other cancer patients, who find it difficult to work while going through treatment.
The foundation is named for Mahopac's Jimmy McDonough, who lost his battle with cancer in 2005.
Jason's Army is looking to raise $50,000 for the foundation. Click here to donate.
