Putnam Sheriff's Sergeant Graduates From FBI Academy

Timothy Keith graduated from the academy on June 7, Putnam Sheriff Donald Smith says.

CARMEL, NY - Putnam County Sheriff Donald Smith announced that one of his sergeants, Timothy Keith, has graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigation's National Academy in Quantico, VA on June 7.

"Sergeant Keith, who is a supervisor in the Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division and a K-9 handler, was among 228 law enforcement officials hailing from 47 states and the District of Columbia, 24 foreign nations, five branches of the United States military and seven federal civilian agencies who attended the 268th Session of the Academy. Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe was the principal speaker at the graduation ceremony, held at the Virginia campus," the sheriff's office noted in a recap of the ceremony.

Smith, in a statement, praised Keith for his accomplishment.

"I know I speak for all of Sergeant Keith’s colleagues here in the Sheriff’s Office when I say how very proud we are of him for his years of distinguished service and for this, his most recent accomplishment, his graduation from the FBI National Academy.”

Keith is now the 10th member of the sheriff's office to have graduated from the FBI's academy, according to Smith's office. His fellow graduates, the office added, are Undersheriff Paul Boscia; Capt. Thomas Velotti; Capt. William J. McNamara; Capt. Frank Christian; Lt. Kevin McManus; First Sgt. William Meyer; Sgt. Kevin Cargain; Sgt. Michael Szabo; Investigator Robert Tichy; and Investigator John Matrician.
