Putnam SPCA Probes Starving Dogs Case
Three severely emaciated dogs were found loose on the road Monday morning.

PUTNAM VALLEY, NY — Officials at the Putnam County SPCA are asking help from anyone with information about three severely emaciated dogs found loose Monday morning on Tinker Hill Road near Oscawana Lake Road.
A Good Samaritan caught the dogs — two middle-aged females and a male.
"We are contracted with the town of Putnam Valley for dog control services. So when the Good Samaritan found them on the road and took them to the town's little dog shelter, our animal control officer responded," said Ken Ross. "She called us immediately and brought them to the Carmel Animal Hospital."

He said the dogs did not show any other signs of abuse except for starvation. "So far they're doing well. We hope to have them up for adoption as soon as they recover."
Their condition is being investigated as a possible case of animal cruelty/neglect and a case of abandonment.
