Rain, Snow Kick Off Putnam Work Week

BREWSTER, NY — We'll start off the work week with a mix of rain and snow starting overnight in much of Putnam County. We'll end it with temperatures getting up into the mid 50s.

It's going to depend on where you are in Putnam; still, the National Weather Service predicts that no matter how the moisture precipitates, there will be little or no snow accumulation.

Here's the five day forecast for Brewster and Southeast. You'll see temps swinging away from freezing:

  • Today-A 40 percent chance of light rain. Cloudy, with a high near 40. Wind chill values between 25 and 35. North wind 8 to 10 mph.
  • Tonight-Rain before 3am, then rain and snow likely. Low around 32. Northwest wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
  • Tuesday-A chance of rain and snow before 9am. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 46. West wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
  • Tuesday Night-Mostly cloudy, with a low around 33. Light northwest wind.
  • Wednesday-Partly sunny, with a high near 46. Light northwest wind increasing to 5 to 10 mph in the morning.
  • Wednesday Night-Partly cloudy, with a low around 29.
  • Thursday-Sunny, with a high near 48.
  • Thursday Night0Mostly cloudy, with a low around 37.
  • Friday-A 30 percent chance of showers before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 53.
  • Friday Night-Mostly cloudy, with a low around 29.

If you're headed up-valley, be warned: The NWS has issued a winter weather advisory for the mid-Hudson through 10 a.m. Tuesday:

Mixed precipitation expected. Patchy freezing drizzle is possible today. Tonight, areas of freezing rain after sunset will turn to sleet and snow after midnight. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch.
