Severe Storms, Flooding Possible: National Weather Service

A line of thunderstorms will bring heavy rain to Putnam and northern Westchester counties, the NWS said.

The National Weather Service warns that a line of severe thunderstorms is headed from Dutchess County southeast into Putnam County and northern Westchester.

Winds in excess of 30 mph are possible with these storms.

Locations impacted include... Danbury, Mahopac, Lake Carmel, Sherman, Brewster, Brookfield, New Fairfield, Carmel, Fahnestock State Park, Jefferson Valley, Patterson, Putnam Valley, Putnam Lake and Brewster Hill.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.

The NWS also issued a flood advisory for eastern Putnam County until 9:15 p.m. At 7:41 p.m., radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Some locations that will experience flooding include... Danbury, Southbury, Lake Carmel, Sherman, Brewster, Newtown, Ridgefield, Monroe, Bethel, Brookfield, New Fairfield, Weston, Redding, Middlebury and Carmel.
