Legend of the Logo

The Putnam County Golf Course logo is a replica of a statue honoring Sybil Ludington on horseback depicting her legendary ride from Carmel to Mahopac
On the evening of April 26th, 1777, using a small branch to urge her mare, Sybil Ludington at the age of 16 rode a distance of 40 miles to awaken the town’s people of Putnam County that British troops were approaching. Because of her actions 400 men answered her cries and were able to push back the British in the Battle of Ridgefield.
