Ticket For Truck Driver Who Crushed Side Of State Police Car

The trucking company cooperated with investigators.

PUTNAM COUNTY, NY — A Massachusetts man is accused of the hit-and-run that damaged a New York state police car Aug. 21.

The New York State police arrested Quito Pagan, 46, on Tuesday. He was charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury motor vehicle crash, a class A misdemeanor.

State police were investigating the crash in which a police car occupied by a trooper on Interstate 84 in Kent was struck by a tractor-trailer. The trooper was treated and released from the hospital. The car sustained major damage.

Police said company officials from XPO Logistics contacted both the NYSP and the town of Kent police after their safety officers noticed damage to a truck in their fleet. XPO Logistics reported the crash may have occurred on I-84.

State police said the company was highly cooperative with the investigators.

After reviewing the evidence, state police investigators determined Pagan struck the police car, which was parked on the shoulder of the interstate, and left the scene.

The Randolph, Massachusetts resident was issued a Uniform Traffic Ticket and is due in the town of Kent court on Sept. 23.
