Virginia Ann DeYoung, Longtime Putnam Resident

Virginia “Ginny” Ann DeYoung passed away October 17th, 2020. The Warrior that she was, passed peacefully surrounded by her close family in Chittenden, VT after a long year battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born on February 10, 1957 in Manhattan NY, daughter of Theresa (Bethencourt) Sharpe of Brewster, NY, and the late Frederick Sharpe. She grew up and lived in Brewster and Carmel NY, later moving to Chittenden,VT.

She married her childhood sweetheart, Richard D. DeYoung on September 6th 1975 at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Brewster. Together, they celebrated the birth of their only child, Richard in 1976. Ginny practiced massage therapy and Reiki for 30+ years in Katonah, NY. She was a free spirit that loved learning; studied Feng shui, Buddhism, Native American culture, and explored many other religious cultures and teachings. Ginny had a love for skiing, horseback riding, trips to Aruba, bonfires and enjoying life with family & friends.

Her life goes on thru her husband Richard DeYoung, son Richard of Brewster, NY, her grandchildren Domenica and Dylan, her mother Theresa Sharpe, her sister Donna and brother-in-law Richie Scrivani of Pawling, NY, and niece & Goddaughter Jessica Scrivani of Tampa, FL.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday October 21, 2020 at Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY from 4pm-7pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday October 22, 2020 at 11am at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, Prospect Street, Brewster, NY. Interment will follow at St. Lawrence O’Toole Cemetery, Brewster, NY.
