5-Story Residential Buildings To Rise On Empty Sunset Park Lots
Two new five-story apartment or condo buildings will be built, one on 57th Street and one on 55th Street, records show.

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — Two new 5-story residential buildings are coming to the neighborhood just a few blocks apart, records show.
Developers filed permits for a new condo development for the empty lot at 216 57th St. late last month, records show. The building will be both residential and community space.
Just a week later, a second group of developers filed permits for a similar five-story building two blocks away at 228 55th St. The 55th Street lot will include a single-story home and the empty lot next door, which records show were merged for the new building.

The 216 57th St. building, found between Second Avenue and Belt Parkway, will be five stories and stand at 49 feet tall, according to records and New York YIMBY. The development will bring 8,915 square feet total, 7,938 for residential spots and 70 square feet for community facilities.
YIMBY predicted that the 12 residences will likely be rentals based on the average 661-square-foot size.

At the 55th Street building, developers plan to devote all 8,314 square feet to residential spots. The building will also most likely have rentals in its 12 residences given the 692-square-foot average per unit.
