Beyoncè Orders Brooklyn Brewery To Stop Naming Beer After Her

Beyoncè's lawyers sent a cease and desist to Lineup Crewing to stop selling "Biëryoncè."

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — An Industry City brewery is in hot water with Queen Bey for the name of one of its beers. Lawyers for Beyoncè sent a cease a desist letter to Lineup Brewing this week, ordering it to stop selling cans of its "Biëryoncè" brew, Pitchfork reported.

Lineup owner Katarina Martinez told the website she was inspired to create the German-style Pilsner after missing one of Beyoncè's concerts. The brewery made the beer their first to be released in cans earlier this month and the name made waves, even getting mentioned on "Late Night with Seth Meyers."

"As an Hispanic, female run business, I am very inspired by her so I thought I’d pay homage,” Martinez told Pitchfork. “We’re disappointed she didn’t take it as a compliment, but oh well. It was fun while it lasted!”

The brewery posted on Facebook that its owners were still "huge Beyoncè fans" despite the legal document and the Pilsner will be renamed "Kätariná" after the brewer.

"Ask and Bey shall receive," the brewery posted on Facebook. "Moving forward, our German Pilsner will be called "Kätariná" paying homage to our badass female brewer and owner."

Lineup officially opened in March sharing space in a warehouse with Industry City Distillery, with Martinez becoming the only solo woman to open her own brewery in the city, the Brooklyn Paper reported.
