SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — A longstanding Brooklyn antique shop will celebrate its 20th year in the borough by opening a new location in Sunset Park.

City Foundry, which has run in its Downtown Brooklyn location since 2000, has opened up shop at 33 35th St., one of the buildings in Industry City's industrial complex.

The new 4,000-square-foot space is the second location for the antique shop, which has provided furniture for Academy Award-winning movies and Emmy Award-Winning TV shows in its nearly 20-year run.

Owners said the new spot will let City Foundry work alongside Industry City's furniture designers while expanding its retail.

“In our 20th year, we were seeking a fresh, new home that aligns with our special brand and meets our business needs,” Claudia Cuseta said. “We felt that Industry City was the perfect spot. Our location here allows us to be among other furniture and lighting designers in a diverse community, while standing out as the premiere antique purveyor to set up shop in the heart of the retail center, quickly becoming Brooklyn’s Design District.”

City Foundry's Industry City spot sits near Porcelanosa, Restoration Hardware, and Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams. It will be open Wednesday through Sundays.

The antique shop was started by Sohrab Bakhshi and specializes in finding 20th-century furniture, lighting, art and artifacts for architects, stylists and designers. Along with furnishing film and TV sets, its background includes providing furniture for retail or dining spots and homes.

The shop also makes its own custom upholstery, does furniture restoration and has its own collection, CF Signature, also of which it will be able to do at the new Industry City location, according to an announcement from Industry City. The collection includes limited-edition tables, lighting, seating and mirrors.

“While Industry City’s design scene attracts designers from all over the world, we also put a great emphasis on Brooklyn-born companies like City Foundry, which will be a great addition to our retail roster," IC's Director of Leasing Kathe Chase said.

City Foundry signed a 10-year lease at the Industry City spot.

It is one of several new businesses to open at the industrial complex as its application to rezone the property is reviewed by the city.

The rezoning, which will add more than 1 million square feet of development to the 16-building property, will face its first official public hearing next week.
