Fire Rips Through Sunset Park Supermarket: FDNY

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — A local supermarket went up in flames early Thursday morning on Eighth Avenue, according to the FDNY.

Emergency responders rushed to Yangtze Supermarket, found at 4413 Eighth Ave., around 1:37 a.m. after a fire broke out on the first floor, an FDNY spokesman said. It took 12 FDNY crews and a little over an hour to put the fire out.

It was under control by 2:50 a.m., the spokesman said. In total, 60 firefighters and medical personnel were on the building, which is found between 44th and 45th streets.

There were no injuries from the fire, the spokesman said.
