Goats On Tracks Latest Problem For Beleaguered MTA
The two goats stumbled upon the above-ground N line tracks in Brooklyn, forcing trains to be diverted to the D line.
BOROUGH PARK, BROOKLYN — New York City's troubled subway system has a new problem – goats on the tracks. A pair of the animals caused a stir Monday when they were spotted walking along above-ground rails in Brookyln, transit officials said.
The goats were seen wandering along the N line tracks between the Fort Hamilton Parkway and New Utrecht Avenue stations around 11:30 a.m. in the Borough Park neighborhood, according to New York City Transit.
"A new one for us (we think)," the MTA announced on social media. "Two goats are roaming along the N line tracks in Brooklyn. They’re safe and not currently affecting service, but they are on the run. We’ll keep you posted."

N trains were diverted to the D line in both directions between 36th Street and Coney Island Stillwell Avenue while law enforcement worked to move the rogue goats from the tracks, transit officials said. The goats were removed from the tracks shortly after 1 p.m., transit officials said.
The goats proved tough to capture. The MTA, NYPD and animal control were all called to the scene to herd the animals to safety, an MTA spokesman tweeted.

After the goats were tranquilized and removed from the tracks they were sent to Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen to live out the rest of their lives in peace, transit officials said. The goats — nicknamed Billy and Willy — even got to meet former Daily Show Host John Stewart, who helped herd them into a truck to take them upstate.
Update: Jon Stewart, the herder? The former host of the @TheDailyShow, seen on the left, helped get 2 goats to an animal shelter upstate Monday.
