'Greenwood Heights' Penthouse Sale Sets New 'Neighborhood' Record

Real estate officials are touting the most expensive sale in Brooklyn's newest "neighborhood."

GREENWOOD HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A real estate company is touting the sale of a penthouse on 20th Street near Sixth Avenue as a record-setting transaction in "Greenwood Heights," one of the new Brooklyn "neighborhoods" that the industry is trying to make happen.

The penthouse at "324 Twenty," the name for the luxury condo building at that address, just sold for $2.07 million, which Stribling Marketing Associates says is "the most expensive condo sale to happen in the history of Greenwood Heights."

"We are excited, but not at all surprised, that 324 Twenty sold out at such a brisk pace," Cornelia Henning Van Amburg, who did marketing and sales at the property, said in a press release. "The generous floorplans and sleek, modern finishes are rare in this area and proved to be an extremely attractive product for buyers."

Of course, many in the surrounding areas — especially the uber-diver Sunset Park to the south — the see name as another sign of gentrification creeping down from Park Slope.

The 324 Twenty building and its record-setting penthouse would seem to fit in that category. As described in the press release:

Consisting of seven units, all residences at 324 Twenty include outdoor space, in-unit washers and dryers; open kitchens with Caeserstone countertops and stainless steel appliances from LG and Bosch; large closets, hardwood floors and video intercom. Each unit has two- or three-bedrooms with prices starting at $1.2 million. The spacious 1,775 SF Penthouse boasts an elevator-access private foyer and 800 SF of private outdoor space with unobstructed views of the Lower Manhattan Skyline, the Statue of Liberty and the Harbor.

"Greenwood Heights is very popular right now, and the neighborhood will only continue to become more sought after as time goes on. These homes have amazing resale potential," Millie Perry, who co-listed the project, said in a press release.
