Japanese Food Hall Coming To Industry City: Reports

Think Eataly or Le District, Crains says.

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — Industry City will be adding a large, Japanese food hall to its sprawling, wonterfront office complex.

Japan Village will open a 20,000-square-feet location in one of Industry City's courtyards, giving workers in the complex and Sunset Park residents a new and unique food option in the area, Crains and 6sqft.

"Japan Village is going to offer visitors and tenants at Industry City an experience they can't get," Industry City CEO Andrew Kimball told Crain's. "That's what excited us about this. It's unique."

The new eatery will join an impressive list of food offerings at Industry City including Avocaderia, which billed itself as the "world's first avocado bar." You can see a full list of Industry City food vendors here.

Japan Village will be designed to mirror a "Japanese village marketplace," according to 6sqft.

"We already have a layout, but want some of the finer details to be a surprise for those who come visit us in person," managing partner Takuya Yoshida told the website. "We are hoping to create a fun environment where visitors can explore the Japanese marketplace."

The food hall will offer rice balls, miso soup, bento boxes and bakery treats, 6sqft says, along with some healthier options.

It's expected to open in the spring.
