Runaway Llama Strolls Through Brooklyn, Video Shows

A llama escaped from a petting zoo in Borough Park Wednesday afternoon.

BROOKLYN, NEW YORK -- Video of a runaway llama escaping a nearby petting zoo in Borough Parm surfaced on Twitter Wednesday afternoon.

Jacob Kornbluh, a political reporter for Jewish Insider, posted video what appears to be a llama – but might also be an alpaca – crossing a busy Brooklyn roadway at the intersection of 54th Street and 14th Avenue.

"There it is, you see the llama?" He can be heard saying. "The runaway llama!"

The llama fled a petting zoo that had been set up for the kids at the Bais Ruchel School of Borough Park, said a parent.

“We had an excitement,” said Sarah, a mother of four who declined to give her last name. “They opened the gates for the kids and the llama decided to go for a stroll.”

The petting zoo workers quickly coralled the animal, but not before it crossed the street and stepped in front of Kornbluh’s lens.

"Only in Borough Park," a spectator says.

Kornbluh's followers were quick to reply with commentary.

"Not the strangest thing in Brooklyn," wrote Alon Pinkas.

"As if traffic on 13th Avenue wasn’t bad already," added Becky Stern.

And finally, Max Sparber shared video of another Brooklyn llama who made his television debut with a trip to the dentist on "Sesame Street."
