More Speed Bumps Could Be Coming To Sunset Park
A Sept. 5 meeting will allow the public to provide feedback on the proposal.

BROOKLYN, NY — Sunset Park is now among three Brooklyn neighborhoods where speed bumps are proposed for installation in the coming months.
The Transportation Committee of Brooklyn Community Board 7 will host a public meeting Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m. inside its board office at 4201 Fourth Ave. and 43rd Street to discuss the addition. All are welcome to attend and provide feedback on this proposal.
Each of the three locations have been deemed “feasible” for speed bumps by the Department of Transportation, according to Community Board 7 district manager Jeremy Laufer, who said no further details will be released until the meeting next week.

In a recent Facebook post, board members said all area residents should “make every effort” to attend the upcoming meeting.

Speeding has long been deemed a problem in Sunset Park and the surrounding area.
The board on Nov. 15 unanimously approved the installation of two speed bumps on the south border of Sunset Park at 44th Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues, Patch reported late last year, after a study by the city’s DOT found some cars were zooming down the block at up to 42 mph — nearly 20 mph over the speed limit.
