Sunset Park Hearings Ahead: New Liquor Licenses, Sketchy Landlords, Library Drama and More!
Community Board 7 has two pretty major meetings scheduled this week.

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — Community Board 7, representing Sunset Park and Windsor Terrace, will host a hearing Tuesday night on a liquor license application from Nautical Express, a boat that docks at the Brooklyn Army Terminal along the Sunset Park waterfront. A community board staffer said further details about the exact services Nautical Express wants to provide will be available at the meeting.
The hearing is scheduled for Nov. 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the board's Sunset Park office, located at 4201 4th Ave. (The entrance to the building is on 43rd Street.)
The board will then hold its monthly general meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 16 — also at 6:30 p.m., also at its 4th Avenue offices.

The Nov. 16 meeting agenda includes full board votes on the following items:
- Congresswoman Nydia Velázquez's Landlord Accountability Act
- The plans for the Sunset Park Library drawn up by the Fifth Avenue Committee and Brooklyn Public Library officials
- An altered liquor license for Los Tres Portrillos on 4th Avenue, which wants to expand
- A new liquor license for El Tahur Bar and Restaurant, a new Mexican joint planned for the spot where the Acapulco bar used to live on 3rd Avenue
- A couple controversial transit-related items (a speed hump and a one-way street) up in Windsor Terrace
As at all community board hearings, voting members will declare their support or opposition to these proposals and projects — although their role remains advisory and secondary to official government decisions, for the most part.
