NYPD and DA Want To Stay In Sunset Park Space For 12 Years
The agencies plan to lease their 4312 Second Ave. space, which they use for records and evidence storage, for 12 years, reports say.

SUNSET PARK, NY — The NYPD and Manhattan District Attorney want to keep their records and evidence storage inside a former Sunset Park Christmas ornament warehouse for 12 years.
The agencies plan to sign a lease soon to continue occupying 174,000-square-feet of space inside the large building at 4312 Second Ave., that they've been in since 2012, the Commercial Observer reported. Both agencies are currently on a month-to-month agreement for parts of the building, which is also occupied by the city's Board of Elections.
The NYPD's Property Clerk wants to keep the entire top floor of the building under the plan while their Records Unit plans to move to 20,000-square-feet on the ground-floor, according to the Commercial Observer.

The DA's office, which first took space in the building after the city asked them to move from the Brooklyn Municipal Building, plans to keep their 76,000-square-feet of space in the spot.
The warehouse was built in 1917 and was used as a factory to make Campbell's soup cans, DNAinfo reported. The Commodore Manufacturing Corporation later bought the building in the 1990s to turn it into storage for Christmas decorations imported from around the world, according to DNAinfo.
