Plans Filed For Ferrara Bros.' Sunset Park Cement Factory
Ferrara Brothers will be moving its Gowanus operation to 24th Street and 3rd Avenue in Sunset Park.

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — The New York City Economic Development Corporation (EDC) filed plans last week for the construction of a new concrete plant and office building at 740 Third Ave., as previously reported by DNAinfo.
The new facility is the work of Ferrara Bros., which was chosen by EDC in 2014 to redevelop the site. The city originally expected the project to be completed by the fall of 2016, though that timeline has evidently been pushed back. A spokesman for Ferrara did not immediately return a request for comment.

According to the city, in addition to the concrete plant being built, the nearly $15 million project will also see the construction of a Compressed Natural Gas station that Ferrara needs to fuel up its trucks. The development effort will also involve 50 manufacturing jobs, the city said.
Once complete, Ferrara will move operations from its current Gowanus facility, located at 435 Hoyt St., to Sunset Park, the EDC said.
