Roaming Theater Company Finds Permanent Home In Sunset Park
Target Margin Theater has moved in to a permanent location in Sunset Park that will host their office, rehearsal space and theater.

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — A 25-year-old theater company has found a permanent home in an old warehouse in Sunset Park.
The nonprofit Target Margin Theater said it has begun performances at a location on 52nd Street, between Second and Third avenues. The 7,500 square-foot space will hold Target Margin's office, two rehearsal studios and the theater.
Founding Artistic Director David Herskovits said the theater has performed in places across lower Manhattan, north Brooklyn and Long Island City but was attracted to Sunset Park when looking for a long-term home.

"As we were looking for a place where we could really settle down, I liked the idea of coming to neighborhood where it's different," Herskovits said.
"There’s so much going on here. It’s so culturally vibrant. We want to bring something to the mix but also to learn something from the community here."

Herskovits described Target Margin's productions as "experimental stuff."
"It's pretty adventurous and irreverent productions," he said. "What the company loves doing is stuff that’s artistically original and challenging and also fun and entertaining."
Target Margin is currently holding a trio of grand opening productions in the space from Nov. 9 through 11. Full productions will begin in the spring, Herskovits said.
He said the Sunset Park community "can expect from us is an open door and a welcome experience. That’s what I really want to create. Our ears are open, our minds are open and we want to create events that are open and inclusive and exciting for everyone."
