Sunset Park Is Getting A New Surgery Center

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — Sunset Park will soon have a new ambulatory surgery center to help ease overcrowding at NYU Langone Hospital— Brooklyn, another significant investment for NYU at its South Brooklyn campus.

The hospital is adding the $83.7 million surgery center to its Sunset Park campus, Crains reported. An NYU Langone spokesman confirmed the details to Patch.

The surgery center, with six operating rooms, will help ease overcrowding in the hospital.

"On the inpatient side, the cases are more complex, requiring more equipment," Dr. Andrew Brotman of NYU Langone Health told Crains. "It makes it much more efficient to have the cases that are not like that [grouped] together and leave the hospital for the cases that require a longer recovery period."
