Sunset Park Restaurant Gets Michelin Award For Best Cheap Eats
This Chinese restaurant on Seventh Avenue is one of 133 NYC eateries to earn a "Bib Gourmand" distinction from Michelin.

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — The same reviewers that dole out the highly-coveted Michelin stars have given a Sunset Park restaurant a distinction as one of the best cheap eat spots in New York City.
Chuan Tian Xia, a Sichuan eatery on the corner of Seventh Avenue and 55th Street, was one of 29 New York spots that were added to the list of Bib Gourmand awards, or those with "affordable and remarkable dining experiences." The New York additions include the Big Apple and Westchester.
In all, 133 New York City spots are on the list of best cheap eats, which first started in 1997.

"Bib Gourmand restaurants offer a full menu of a starter, main course and dessert, making it possible to order two courses and a glass of wine or dessert for around $40 or less," Michelin wrote. "The diversity of cuisine in New York City is reflected by 34 cuisine types in the Bib Gourmand category, including Balkan, Korean and Sri Lankan."
Chuan Tian Xia stood out to reviewers for its "elaborate and bustling dining hall." The inspectors particularly liked the eatery's whole parchment-wrapped fish with peppers and bean sprouts.

The Sunset Park spot was joined by six other Brooklyn restaurants.
Williamsburg got three of the borough's picks with Taiwanese restaurant Win Son, Hoxton hotel's Klein's and Ammazzacaffe's pasta-focused spot. Park Slope's new Korean eatery, Haenyeo, also got a shout out, as did Maison Yaki, a Vanderbilt Avenue restaurant that serves up French and Japanese cuisine. Rounding out the Brooklyn list was Downtown Brooklyn's Saint Julivert Fisherie.
The 29 new cheap eats also included eight Manhattan restaurants, three from Queens, one from Staten Island, one from the Bronx and several more from towns in Westchester.
