Sunset Park School Forced To Move Black Lives Matter Art: Report
A poster showing a cop pointing a gun at a black girl caused controversy at Sunset Park High School, the New York Post reported.

SUNSET PARK, NY — Art created by a Sunset Park High School student was taken down after complaints that it showed an officer pointing a gun at a black girl, the New York Post reported.
The artwork, which shows the girl changing N-word graffiti to read Bigger Than Hate" while an officer points a gun at her, was hung in the school's lobby Wednesday. But staff quickly took it down after photos of it were posted online, the Post reported.
A spokesman for the city's Department of Education did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but told the Post it was made during an after-school program but was moved to a different part of the building after the complaints.

Jeffrey White, who wrote on Facebook that he was the faculty advisor for the program the poster was made in, defended the mural as a way to highlight the issues his students face.
"It represents the lived reality of Black people (people of color) in our society," White wrote on Facebook.

"Students of the Black Student Union (BSU), here at Sunset Park High school, wanted to create this mural to highlight issues of racial justice that they have experienced themselves (i.e. stop and frisk or Police Brutality) or witnessed a loved one facing."
