Turn Good Deeds Into Free Pizza at Johnny's Pizzeria in Sunset Park

The good deed raffle is being put together by Johnny's and the Sunset Park 5th Avenue BID.

SUNSET PARK, BROOKLYN — Just in case you need a little extra incentive to be particularly kind to your neighbors this holiday season, Johnny's Pizzeria in Sunset Park and the Sunset Park 5th Avenue BID are giving you one.

Right now, if you take a picture of yourself doing a good deed, post it to Facebook, and tag either Johnny's Facebook page or the BID's page, you'll be entered into a raffle for one of three free large 18-inch pizzas, or one of three free Johnny's t-shirts.

Johnny's, located at 5806 5th Ave., was founded in 1968 by John Miniaci, and his son, John, Jr., took over in 1991. Miniaci said he put together a Halloween raffle earlier this year, giving out $150 in gift certificates in the process. This is his first Christmas raffle.

Any kind of good deed works, Miniaci said, like lighting a candle for someone in church, helping someone carry groceries, or helping a homeless family in need. (A family posted a picture of themselves volunteering in a soup kitchen, he said, one of his favorite acts so far.)

Miniaci said he put together the raffle because he wants to celebrate "the spirit of giving. It's the holiday season. It's your turn to give back."
