“Purse-onality” auction event helps fight heart disease in women
Go Red for Women's Handbags Helping Hearts event raises $20,000

A crowd of more than 100 women and men took part in the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women Handbags Helping Hearts event Thursday night at the Stickley, Audi & Co. showroom in Fayetteville. The popular event gave attendees the chance to bid on chic handbags filled with luxury items and gifts, while also helping a great cause and getting lifesaving information about the number one killer of women: heart disease. The event raised $20,000 for Go Red for Women.
More than 30 handbag packages were up for auction, including bags from designers like Kate Spade, Stuart Weitzman®, Coach and more. Many of the bags were filled with goodies, including gift cards to local restaurants and services, accessories, wine and more. The bags and the items inside were donated by local individuals and businesses. Each package had “purse-onality” and signified someone or something important to the donor.
The evening was more than just an auction. Attendees enjoyed mini-makeovers with Lancôme makeup stylists and after photos provided by Macy’s and had the opportunity to enjoy a fun night out. They also learned about the impact of heart disease in women, and how the Go Red for Women movement is making a difference in women’s health in our community and beyond.
