Syracuse Man Drives Wrong Way, Causes Crash: Police

The two occupants of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.

SYRACUSE, NY — On January 2, 2018, at approximately 12:07 a.m., State Police responded to a report of a wrong way driver on I-90, in the Town of Dewitt. Reports said that there was a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lane. Moments later a head-on collision was reported with injuries.

During the investigation of the accident, the operator of the wrong-way vehicle — Kenneth J. Cannon, 25, of City of Syracuse — was taken into custody, transported and processed at the Syracuse barracks. Further investigation revealed no signs of impairment and no injuries to Cannon.

  • Reckless Endangerment in the 1st degree; a Class D Felony
  • Reckless Driving; a Unclassified Misdemeanor
  • Multiple Vehicle and Traffic Violations

Cannon was transported to Onondaga County Jail pending arraignment. No bail amount or return court date available at this time.

The two occupants of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
