18-Year-Old Accused In Sleepy Hollow Fatal Shooting

Emmanuel Valentin Perez, 18, is facing a felony manslaughter charge in the death of Manuel Salazar, 32.

SLEEPY HOLLOW, NY — A Mount Vernon man has been accused in the fatal shooting Monday a Sleepy Hollow man.

Emmanuel Valentin Perez, 18, was charged with first-degree manslaughter, a felony, for the death of Manuel Salazar, 32, of Sleepy Hollow, according to Westchester District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah.

Authorities said the shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. in Margotta Courts Park in Sleepy Hollow.

Salazar was taken to Westchester County Medical Center where he died. A second man also sustained a gunshot wound and was treated and released.

Valentin Perez was arrested Tuesday and arraigned Wednesday. He remains in custody at the Westchester County Jail, according to police.

Rocah said she offered Salazar's family her deepest condolences and has already reached out to offer them victim support services.

"We share Westchester residents' concerns about gun violence and will continue to fight this problem aggressively," she said.

Rocah also thanked the Sleepy Hollow Police Department, Westchester County Police and the FBI's Safe Streets Task Force for their involvement in the case.
