Chance Of Snow, Soaking Rain: Hudson Valley Weather

HUDSON VALLEY, NY – Spring is being welcomed in Hudson Valley by a storm expected to soak the region with up to an inch of rain Thursday. Some parts of the mid-Hudson Valley could see some snow.

Hudson Valley Weather's Alex Marra and Bill Potter said a minor shift in the position and track of the system on its way to the region could mean more or less colder air.

"If the storm is slightly further east, and stronger … some wet snow could be seen in the lower elevations of the Hudson Valley," they wrote. "But as it stands, it appears likely to be a cold rain below 1,000 feet."

Hudson Valley Weather isn't ruling out a slushy 3 to 8 inches for Sullivan, western Ulster and western Greene counties.

Here's the forecast for Putnam County courtesy of the National Weather Service:

• Wednesday Night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 31. South wind 5 to 9 mph becoming light after midnight.
• Thursday: A slight chance of rain and snow before 10am, then rain likely. Cloudy, with a high near 48. Wind chill values between 25 and 35 early. Southeast wind 5 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
• Thursday Night: Rain, mainly before 4am. Low around 38. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
• Friday: A chance of rain before 7am, then a chance of showers after 7am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 48. West wind 7 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
• Friday Night: A chance of rain showers before 1am, then a slight chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27. West wind 11 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
• Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 40.
