Consumers Vote: Hudson Health Plan Receives Top Score in 'Rating of Health Plan' of All Medicaid Plans in New York State Survey

Hudson’s Scores Are Higher than State Average Across the Board

Hudson Health Plan – an MVP Health Care Company – has once again been recognized for going the extra mile to serve its members. Hudson has received the highest score statewide among Medicaid Managed Care organizations for “Rating of Health Plan” in the recently released New York State Department of Health’s 2013 Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) Survey. Hudson significantly outperformed its peers in customer service and scored higher than the state average on all nine measures.

“These high scores are a reflection of the hard work and dedication our staff and health care providers exhibit every day,” explains Georganne Chapin, President and CEO of Hudson Health Plan and Executive Vice President for Corporate Affairs at MVP Health Care. “Applying for health insurance and navigating the health care system is not easy. Our members know we’re here for them, and will help them in any way we can.”

1. Getting needed care
2. Getting care quickly
3. How well doctors communicate
4. Customer service
5. Shared decision making
6. Rating of all health care
7. Rating of personal doctor
8. Rating of specialist seen most often
9. Rating of health plan

Partners in Health

Hudson’s respect and concern for its members are evident in the many extra services it provides. For example Hudson is the first—and only—New York State Medicaid plan to offer online renewal for Child Health Plus, making it easier for parents and guardians to retain health insurance for children. In addition, specially trained customer care staff make personal phone calls to members who are overdue for mammograms and diabetes monitoring, among other health care screenings. The customer care representatives will stay on the phone and help members schedule appointments, and then follow up with members to ensure appointments were kept. It’s all part of Hudson’s plan to make health care more accessible and ensure members receive quality care, notes Ms. Chapin.

“Our goal is to be more than just a health plan—to our members, we’re their partner in health,” Ms. Chapin says. “It takes all of us – our staff and our health care providers – working together to make sure our members have the medical visits, tests, immunizations, care, and services they need to stay as healthy as possible.”

To further serve its members, last year Hudson joined the MVP Health Care family of companies. MVP offers a wide variety of health plan options, including Medicare and individual products on the New York State of Health Marketplace. “Together, MVP and Hudson can cover people through all of life’s stages and changing needs,” Ms. Chapin explains. “MVP and Hudson are both strongly committed to our members and to creating healthier communities."

Hudson Health Plan is a community-based not-for-profit health plan providing Medicaid and Child Health Plus in six Hudson Valley counties: Dutchess, Orange, Rockland, Ulster, Sullivan, and Westchester. It's main office is in Tarrytown, NY.
