Duct Taped Dog Found in Elevator
"Snoopy" a bichon mix is now safe and looking for a new home.
A bichon mix dog was rescued from a Bronx apartment elevator Wednesday where he was found muzzled with duct tape and tightly tied to a banister from its neck with shoelaces.
Now named “Snoopy,” the dog was reportedly seen in the courtyard of a Soundview Apartment building in the Baychester area of the Bronx for days before it ended up in the elevator.
Volunteers from Bronx Tails Cat Rescue and Second Chance Animal Rescue— Louis Barbarelli of the Bronx, Jennifer Brooks of Queens, Regina Galente, and Jim Pope of Mount Vernon—were notified Wednesday morning and found the dog filthy, bruised and battered.
The volunteers took Snoopy to Valhalla Animal Hospital where he was examined. Veterinarians believe the dog is around 3-year-old and that his mouth had been taped for some time. Snoopy, who is housebroken and friendly, is now comfortable after getting some care and a bath and is now looking for a loving home.
