A new program in the Elmsford Union Free School District, Backyard Sports Cares, is offering students with disabilities the opportunity to take part in different sports with experienced coaches, teachers and older students.
According to a blog post by the district, the Special Education Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is offering the program to special education students in second through fourth grade, with the help of athletes from Alexander Hamilton High School, teachers and coaches.
