Freezing Rain, Freezing Temps for Evening, Overnight in Hudson Valley

There are differing weather statements and advisories for different parts of the valley.

As if the weather hasn’t been completely confusing—I believe the correct meteorological term is “topsy-turvy”—the Hudson Valley has myriad weather statements and advisories.

First up, Dutchess and Ulster counties are coming to the end of a Winter Weather Advisory. It expires at 6 p.m. Monday and called for snow and freezing rain.

For northern Westchester, Putnam and Orange counties, the National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory calling for snow and ice until 9 p.m. Monday. It could, of course, making getting around during and after the evening commute trickier than usual.

Because the cold air mass isn’t going anywhere, there is a Freeze Warning for southern Westchester in effect from 8 p.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Tuesday and then again from 8 p.m. Tuesday to 10 a.m. Wednesday.

And we don’t want Rockland County to feel left out, so the NWS issued a Special Weather Statement for Rockland saying the county can expect some patchy freezing rain Monday afternoon.

For the entire region, it’s important to remember that there is the possibility of rain in the forecast and once the temperatures start dropping there could be icy patches to contend with.

Remember, it is April and this too will pass.
