GoFundMe Campaign Launched in Honor of Tahj Robinson

The 17-year-old former Sleepy Hollow High School student was slain last week.

Relatives of former Sleepy Hollow High School student Tahj Robinson have established a GoFundMe page in honor of the slain teen to help with memorial and funeral expenses.

Robinson, who was living with relatives in New Jersey, was stabbed and killed during a fight last week in Barnhart Park in Sleepy Hollow. The Friday killing led to the cancellation of Saturday’s Homecoming game, and a suspect, 16-year-old Tarrytown resident Berinzon Moronta, has been arrested on a charge of second degree murder.

As of about 10:45 a.m. this morning, Oct. 13, the GoFundMe page had raised $1,150 toward a goal of $10,000.

“Eternally grateful for the amount of love and support that this wonderful community has shown to our family we want to put together, in connection with Sleepy Hollow High School, a life celebration to commemorate Tahj and to help all his caring friends and family begin to heal from this dreadful loss,” the family wrote.

“Unfortunately, as the death of a child is something no family can ever be prepared to handle, in addition, the family would appreciate assistance in the sad need for funeral and memorial services in Sleepy Hollow.

“We hope that by uniting the Sleepy Hollow community around the life of our fallen son, we can not only remember Tahj for the beautiful, young person he was, but also ensure that this kind of horrible violence does not happen again, that as a community our youth learns the fragility of life and to value it as priceless. Ultimately, we want Tahj’s life to help heal the wound that his abrupt and brutal death caused to us all.”
