Greenburgh Mulling Leaf Blower Law At Public Hearing
The proposed local law will restrict the use of the blowers to certain times of the year.
GREENBURGH, NY — The town of Greenburgh will be holding a public hearing on a new leaf blower law at its next meeting.
The session will be held remotely via Zoom at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The proposed local law would restrict the use of leaf blowers except during the following periods: March 1 to May 15 and Oct. 15 to Dec. 15. During those times, the blower may be used from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekends and legal holidays.

According to the proposed law, there are exemptions, including weather emergencies when the town supervisor can issue a directive suspending the restrictions.
Fines for violating the law start at $50 for the first occurrence.

"This proposal is a compromise," Supervisor Paul Feiner said, "not as strong as other communities but stronger than the current policies."
