Greenburgh Multiplex Being Demolished For Supermarket

GREENBURGH, NY — The Greenburgh Multiplex, long a mainstay in the area for moviegoers, is being demolished.

The 42,000-square-foot theater, along with a separate retail building, located on Saw Mill River Road in Elmsford, is being torn down to make room for a new ShopRite supermarket, the Journal News reported.

The multiplex opened in December 1999 and closed May 30, 2019.

The Journal News said the supermarket will be almost 76,000 square feet, with an indoor restaurant space, and is more than a year away from opening.
