Greenburgh Primary Guide: Who's On The Ballot, How To Vote

Besides Westchester county clerk, Democratic-registered voters in Greenburgh will make a choice for supervisor.

GREENBURGH, NY — A Democratic Party primary will take place June 22 in Greenburgh to see who will be the party's candidates for Westchester County clerk and Greenburgh town supervisor in November.

Who's on the Ballot

Westchester County Clerk

There are two candidates running to appear on the Democratic Party line for Westchester county clerk.

Incumbent Timothy Idoni is being challenged by Shanae Williams.

Idoni has been the Westchester county clerk since 2006. He also served as New Rochelle mayor from 1996 to 2005 and Ardsley village manager from 1985 to 1990. He has a master's degree in public administration from New York University and was granted an honorary doctorate from Iona College.

Williams is a councilwoman for Yonkers 1st District. She immigrated to the United States with her family when she was 9. She is a graduate of Yonkers Public Schools and Hastings High School and has a master's degree in business administration from Walden University.

Greenburgh Supervisor

There is a primary for the Democratic Party candidate for supervisor of the town of Greenburgh. Incumbent Supervisor Paul Feiner is being challenged by Tasha D. Young.

Feiner was first elected supervisor in 1991. Prior to that he was a county legislator. He has a law degree from St. John's University Law School.

Young's most recent role was chief of staff and policy expert at the New York City Council. She has more than 20 years of community activism, leadership and engagement.

How To Vote In The 2021 Primary Election

In-person voting:

Early voting will take place June 12 to June 20. Any Westchester voter can vote at any of the 23 early voting sites. For times and locations, go to this website.

Primary Day voting takes place from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. To locate your polling location, go to this website.

Absentee voting:

This year you may vote absentee if you will be:

  1. Absent from your county on Election Day.
  2. Unable to appear at the polls due to temporary or permanent illness or disability (temporary illness includes being unable to appear due to risk of contracting or spreading a communicable disease like COVID-19).
  3. Unable to appear because you are the primary caregiver of one or more individuals who are ill or physically disabled.
  4. A resident or patient of a Veterans Health Administration Hospital.
  5. Detained in jail awaiting Grand Jury action or confined in prison after conviction for an offense other than a felony.

To apply for an absentee ballot, either by requesting an application or letter of application by mail, or sending an email or fax for an absentee ballot, the deadline is June 15.

The last day to apply in person for an absentee ballot is June 21.

Absentee ballots must be postmarked or taken to the local board of elections (by someone other than the voter) by June 22. A mailed-in absentee ballot must be received by the local board of elections no later than June 29.
