Guilty Plea In Killing Of Pedestrian In White Plains

The incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. Aug. 24 in front of the Westchester County Center.

ELMSFORD, NY — The Elmsford man who was accused of killing a pedestrian with his car in front of the Westchester County Center in August admitted his guilt Tuesday. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino Jr. said Glen Robinson, 26, of Elmsford, pleaded guilty to killing Susan Benjamin-Bailey of the Bronx.

Westchester County Court Judge Anne Minihan accepted the plea. Robinson will be sentenced on one count of second-degree vehicular manslaughter, a felony, on April 29.

He had been indicted by a grand jury in December on two counts of second-degree vehicular manslaughter and one count of criminally negligent homicide, felonies, and two counts of driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor.

According to prosecutors, just after 6:30 a.m. Aug. 24, Robinson was driving while intoxicated in White Plains.

Benjamin-Bailey, 57, was on her way to work that morning.

At the intersection of Tarrytown Road and Central Avenue, Robinson drove his Chevrolet Cruze into her as she crossed the roadway in front of the county center.

She was taken to White Plains Hospital where she died from her injuries.

Additionally, Robinson drove into the brick garden bed surrounding the clock tower, completely damaging both the structure and the clock.
