Hazardous Weather Outlook, Wind Advisory for Southern Westchester

Thunderstorms, damaging winds, big swing in temperatures, says the National Weather Service

TARRYTOWN, NY - Pushing warm air ahead of it, a cold front is expected to blow in, preceded by isolated damaging wind gusts, isolated thunderstorms and rain, says the National Weather Service.

The NWS issued this statement for southern Westchester, at 6:24 a.m. Wednesday:

Rain is expected to get heavy Wednesday evening. Temperatures will soar, hitting about 55 at midnight before plunging into the 30s over the following 24 hours.

There is also a Wind Advisory issued for southern Westchester for 6 p.m. Wednesday to 4 a.m. Thursday.

And we can expect lots of rain: 1.5 inches for New Rochelle and Bedford and 1.3 in White Plains by 7 a.m. Thursday. Localized flooding is possible in areas of poor drainage and for faster responding streams and small rivers.

This is part of the same big storm that is expected to bring heavy snow to parts of the Midwest and a tornado outbreak in the Southern states, according to AccuWeather.com.
