John H. Calvey Of Tarrytown Dies At Age 90

Calvey was a former village trustee and a member of the volunteer ambulance corps.

TARRYTOWN, NY — John H. Calvey, a longtime Tarrytown resident died April 7, 2017. at the age of 90. Born in Millbrook on October 15, 1926, he was the son of James and Mary Murphy Calvey. John served proudly in the U.S. Navy during WW II. After the service, he earned a Bachelor’s Degree and went on to have a long career in sales.

Jack was also very active in community service having been a member of the Tarrytown Volunteer Ambulance Corps, an active member of the Republican Party in Tarrytown and he served as a Village Trustee. He was a parishioner of Transfiguration Church.

He was married to Frances Santangelo who predeceased him in 2002. He is survived by his sister Maureen Curran and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Frances, he was predeceased by his sister Brenda Derby.

Visitation will be at Coffey Funeral Home from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday April 17. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Transfiguration Church with burial and military honors to follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
