Lawmaker Calls For Renaming Cuomo Bridge [POLL]
Assemblyman Mike Lawler said the change should happen because of the allegations against the governor. Do you agree?

NEW YORK — It's not the first time a politician has called for changing the name of the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge back to the Gov. Malcolm Willson Tappan Zee Bridge — and it likely won't be the last.
The most recent call is for change is from state Assemblyman Mike Lawler, R-Pearl River.
In a sort of a reverse "sins of the father," Lawler said it was essential to make the change because the new bridge "bears the same last name" as Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who is embroiled in allegations ranging from sexual harassment to covering-up nursing home deaths.

Mario Cuomo was governor of New York from 1983 to 1994.
"We cannot wait another legislative session to change the name back— it must be done now," Lawler said.

He said the Tappan Zee Bridge is the historic and rightful name.
The Tappan Zee Bridge was completely dismantled in 2019 after the new bridge open over the Hudson River between Tarrytown and South Nyack.
Lawler has also called on the governor to be impeached if he doesn't resign.
