NJ Man Drove Drunk On Thruway: Police

The state police said the man's blood alcohol content was more than three times the legal limit.

GREENBURGH, NY — A New Jersey man was accused of driving while three times over the legal limit for alcohol. The New York State Police said, shortly before 1:30 a.m Sunday, troopers stopped a car on Interstate 87 in the town of Greenburgh for multiple vehicle and traffic violations.

The driver, Margarito Tambonero, 35, of East Orange, New Jersey, was found to be intoxicated, police said.

He was taken into custody and processed at the Tarrytown barracks where his blood alcohol was determined to be 0.24 percent.

Tambonero was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, and several vehicle and traffic violations.

He was turned over to a sober third party and released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Greenburgh Court Oct. 13.
