Obituary: John “Giovanni” Corda, 79, Formerly Of Tarrytown
A first-generation Italian-American, Cor was very proud of his Sardinian roots.

July 15, 1939 - April 13, 2019
Formerly of Tarrytown, NY. Survived by brother Anthony, nieces Cathy Dubois(Mike), Fran Corda-Whitehead(Harold), Mary, Michele, and nephews Tony(Kathy) and Adrian(Rosina), Sister-in-Law Myrna, and many great nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Catherine and Frank Corda, Sr., brother Frank, Jr., and Sister-in-Law, Arlene.

Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 14 at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, Ossining, NY, followed by interment at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
As a young boy, John dreamt of being a famous singer. In his early teens, he was taken to a voice instructor in Manhattan. In high school he joined the Hudson Aires, a noted singing group of the day in the Westchester area. His dream grew ever stronger, he was ambitious for the spotlight that a career in singing would bring.

After attending Fredonia College, he resolved to pursue a singing career in Los Angeles, CA, and was on his way to the West Coast. John supplemented his livelihood by working in a cheese shop in Beverly Hills and enjoyed doing business with many celebrities and movie personalities. He also dabbled in many business ventures including cargo seizure, garment industry, artificial flowers and jewelry.
Throughout all his endeavors, he doggedly pursued his dream, managing to land singing engagements in popular night clubs and venues, performing with professional musical groups in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Perhaps his crowning achievement was landing several singing engagements in Osaka, Japan, where he had quite a following.
A first-generation Italian-American, John was very proud of his Sardinian roots. He was actively involved in projects for the betterment of Sardinian environmental issues. It was a matter very close to his heart.
John has made many CD recordings and his singular style and charisma has made him loved by all who knew him on the West Coast, Las Vegas and Japan. He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Dorsey Funeral Home, Inc. in Ossining.
